KDE media manager won't start

  • bperrotta,

you accidentally removed vital parts of KDE.
Login as root ( no matter if on the command line or the grey GUI thing) and start Yast, Software Management, and reinstall the kde components you deleted.

Uwe

I tried using the update option and it will not fix it.
I did it to kdelibs and kde base. I will start cursing and pouting now. Why in the world are kde3 32 bit librarie installed should i remove them just want this back the way it was.

Another problem yast2 locks if i try to remove the kde3 libraries.
The xkonsole log will not go away only minimize can’t start addition sessions without logging out other wise everything else fine. Just annoying. Also get the crummy grey screen before the kde4 desktop. It has replaced my green and black kde4 login screen.

 Can somebody tell me why yast locks up every time I
try to remove the kde3 libraries. I didn’t think I was supposed to need them. I reinstalled all the kde4 libs and I still haver the crummy grey login screen. All of my other stuff is working again. But How do i get my flamin login screen back the way it was?
I thought maybe the grey login screen with the lizard might of have been part of kde3 libs but not sure. Also the multi login function and restart functionin kde 4 is still gone. I have to use
a terminal shutdown -r to restart. It hasn’t killed me but does anyone know why this is or how to fix it?

  • bperrotta,

you probably want to install “kde4-kdm”. Don’t uninstall things for now, please.

Uwe

ok I’
ll try that or an update on it if already installed.
Will post results

Refresh or reinstall, not an update. If there’s no update available, you won’t receive any update.

Uwe

That worked wish I would have known about the rpm sooner thanks.
So far this is the best version of Suse yet.
It was a little quirky buggy at first but it is very stable once you work out the bugs. I think I’m sticking with Linux now.
I am sick of Vista I boot it only when I need to run something that absolutely won’t run on linux or in vmware.

Thanks a lot:)

  • bperrotta,

you’re welcome, glad you got it fixed and like the distro now
