I tried the 13.1 KDE live on several machines.
Toshiba L550D Radeon 4200 working with Desktop Effects (yay)
Dell Precision 490 Dual Xeon Quadcore mit Eyfinity6 Radeon HD6950 bleibt beim Splashscreen dem vierten Symbol stehen und dann geht es nicht mehr. Gleiche für die Radeon HD7970 E
Need to start ICEwm to try 13.1 but I do not know how o configure multi monitor.
Did you try any of the boot options? Like No KMS?
The Radeon HD6950 and HD6930 are working flawless with my 6 monitors using OpenSuse 12.3.
I tried to start with NO KMS and the result is, that I can use only 1 of my 6 monitors while actually the first Dp1 monitor is mirrored on DP2. and not even 1900x1080 only 1280x1024
But SOOOO painfully slow. No way to work with this

66.364841] systemd-readahead[1818]: Out of memory.
The HD6950e6 has 2GB RAM, my system is supposed to have 2x8GB RAM … why am I out of memory?
Workaround for HD6xxx users to get the KDE desktop running:
Issue are the activated desktop effects.
to disable:
Kill the loading kde desktop by hitting twice: STRG-ALT-BACKSPACE
start ICWwm session
open terminal, type dolphin, go to folder
.kde4/share/config/
open kwinrc with kwrite
change: CompositinIsUnsafe=false to CompositinIsUnsafe=true
save and exit document.
exit ICWwm, start KDE it is starting.
(WTF the live image does not contain LibreOffice Calc or other spreadheet??? Really???)
At the moment my system is ultra lagging. Insanely slow.
So I am looking for sth better. Switching off desktops effects in 13.2rc2 lets me use 13.2rc2, but painfully slow.
When I use 13.10 live Kubuntu I have working desktop effects and everything is smooth and fast.
So there is obviousely something wrong with suse.
Installed from GM DVD 64 - all thumbs and fine including 3D :):)

Guess this is solved with the 3.13 kernel and the latest firmware, xf86-video-ati update from factory.
Just solved the same error here.
Kind Regards,
Peter
