I asked this question on the factory mailinglist never got answer. Can
anyone answer this?
I installed a test system with opensuse 11.0 (2.6.25.16-0.1-pae) with KDE
4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.1(KDE4.1.+20080828)) release 52.2 from the factory repository
on 10/01.
I found four items which may be bugs or just not completed yet.
-
on KMENU under system–>terminal there is no longer an option for a
super user terminal like KDE 3.5.9-44 has.
-
Under personal settings I can no longer find where to set up the device
icons. It is under Personal_Settings–>desktop–>behavior on 3.5.9.
-
I no longer see Cups on the kde menu, but it is installed and I can get
to it thru Konqueror. How do I add it to the menu.
-
No longer have a run option on the KDE menu.
Do I need to report these as bugs, are they incomplete or were they removed?
I’m trying to test with new KDE.
Thanks for any help. If this is not the right place to ask, let me know.

As far as I am aware, these are all features to be implemented in due course. You may wish to record them as wishes on the KDE Bugzilla.
You should be able to get round the absence of an item in the menu by right clicking and putting the relevant icon on the desktop for the time being.
Have you looked at the standard keyboard shortcuts or set up your own for any of the things you want?
In mine, i can access the SU Terminal using Applications->System->Terminal-> Terminal Super User Mode / KDE 3
Also, If you type in CUPS in the search on the Kmenu it comes up…
There is no Run option i forgot the key combination but i remember there is…any more experienced people can correct me if i am wrong…but thats how i think it is now.

Right click anywhere on the desktop will give you the run command.

Thanks that gets the run command but I do not see the old option to run the
command as root. I will investigate further. I did not see it under the
settings option.

Right click on SuSE start menu item. Go into Menu editor.
Copy the Konsole icon and create a new one with Run as Different User
enabled.
It just isn’t created in the default config currently. Perhaps it will not
be a part of the default going forward. In any case, that is how you remedy
problem 1.

Not yet implemented it looks like.

See answer to step 1.

Right click on desktop, possibly can be added also with Menu editor.
You can also run apps as roo using krunner by specifying kdesu.
So for instance kdesu konsole.
