Now system can login to X. Normally, I configure my internet conenction with knetworkmanager’s latest version. Because I have to set up a static ip and change MAC address. With yast, it is limited - No mac changing is allowed and I don’t know what to write to hostname after I choose to configure ip address manually.
To change the mac address I was adding these lines to /etc/init.d/boot.local
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 down
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 hw ether AA:11::::
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 up
In general you shouldn’t continue with a zypper dist-upgrade if it warns you that it will actually downgrade a lot of packages and do mass architecture changes.
From what I’ve read here, please do yourself a favour and reinstall. To much experimental actions have been taken, mixing 32 and 64bit packages. A clean install takes about an hour, IMHO this will come back to you many times.
I found the same for 32 bit (x_86 - this repo link): several packages were showing in red in Yast > Software Management (meaning a downgrade would be reqd).
Are the KDE://KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/ packages being updated, maybe this has to do with the downtime for the OBS (oS Build Service), that is scheduled b/w Thurs & Monday?
And when can we expect stable packages in the /KDE://KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/ repo ?
Yeah I did some progress. Thanks for everything till now. I also gave internet connection using yast and changed mac with ifconfig on boot.local.
Now I am thinking about which repos I should continue with. Because now my kde is 4.1.3 “release 4.10.4”. Normally all the 4.3 repos are enabled. I think it’s because of priority number. I made them 99 as you said to apply dup.

I also confused between two repos :

18 | repo-update | openSUSE-11.1-Update | Yes | No
One more thing, why we didn’t enable KDE 4.3 11.1 but openSUSE-11.1-Update to apply dup?
I was also thinking to reinstall (maybe the 11.2 milestoen version), but I still insist to fix it.
When I look for i586, there were about 10-12 installed on my system. The reason why I have them is most probably due to skype, cos skype has no 64bit version and you can install and use 32 bit version along with some requested packages during installation.
There are “version factory” and “version 11.1” available under *KDE Factory Development (KDE 4.3 + Patches) *. On my laptop, I am worrying to enable KDE 4 Core Packages on that list and do a zypper dup. There are two reason:
caf4926 didn’t suggest at the beginning of these thread.
When I dup, it sees i586 version as a update and I think trying to change 64bit versions with 32bit if a newer version available:
linux-fxl5:~ # zypper dup

So, I don’t wanna conclude as if you have 64bit version opensuse, you cannot update to kde 4.3 now?
