KDE is crushed after latest "zypper dup".

Hi,
I update my system with zypper dup 5 mins ago, and restaerted. Now when kde is loaded there is a popup appearing, and saying “login authentication is failed”, then returning to the login screen.

I started with console and removed all .kde and .kde4 folder under my home directory. But again didn’t work.

Then I wrote startx to see some notes on the console screen after failure starting kde. It was saying that

/usr/bin/startkde
line 380: /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/start_kdeinit_wrapper : no such a file or directory

The dup’s size over 300mb. What can I do? I cannot use my laptop anymore?

PS: I have no internet connection. Actually I had configured it manually with kde’s network manager including mac chancing. I don’t know how to do it with console.

So did you have kde3 installed also and have you been able to resolve it?

Hello,
First I looked for start_kdeinit_wrapper on my system. There was two:
/usr/lib64/kde4/libexec/start_kdeinit_wrapper
/opt/kde3/bin/start_kdeinit_wrapper

However, system was looking for it under /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/start_kdeinit_wrapper. So I soft linked there one.

But it didn’t work with normal system start. It helped to start X after I start a console.

The new interface looks like opensuse 11.2. I think they made a huge update on repos. Is there any way to take it back the distro updates after zypper dup? Or can you suggest me to disable some repos to do zypper dup again to turn it back?

PS: Nothings work normal even I manage the start X with console. And that bug report is not mine. It is a similar error that I foung while googling.

But you don’t have refresh ON for any of the repos. Do you want me to show you how I would have them?

The system really run on a weird situation : there is no amarok and desktop folder plasma gives error i.e. unable to create io-slave.

BTW I HAVE JUST BECOME A STUDENT PENGUIN <:)<:)

N.B. Supposedly having updates a priority 20 instead of 99 is OK with dup, but I’d be inclined to change it.

However zypper dup should be the same. You could always take Packman out of the mix for now, but the errors don’t seem to be from there

I’ve started before with priorty 20 with the repos you mentioned. I used zypper dup in a console while X is running under root account. The dup still continue. I will let you know after it is finished and system is restarted.
