Try to install gmerlin mixer through yast.
Go to yast–>hardware–>sound–>and test the sound which has sound and choose it.
I will try to install gmerlin, but I wouild like to understand what I did that caused the problem, I repeat this is new :-(. Yast test gives sound for intel and no sound for nvidia.
That said I tried to reinstall (mandatory update) all the kde stuff as found in yast presets, no change.
I also just installed the 11.4 RC1. There, all works like a charm, intel card (no error message), nvidia card (looks like the sound is not exactly the same as intel), so what? I may have killed some obscure part of kde by mistake and don’t know which.
do somebody know where kde store it’s logs? it could be interesting to look at them
thanks

I notice you have the Backend tab. Click on there. What is the top item in the list in that tab?
only xine
but now I have also gstreamer (and the video sound don’t works anymore!)
So, put gstreamer on top preference.
it’s because I did that the sound stopped working.
But I just noticed that on the 11.4RC1 there is the same problem (error messsage), so I become to wonder if there is not a kernel problem (was there not an update recently?) - that said I use 2.6.34 and factory is 2.6.37
