Hi guys, first time KDE and OpenSUSE user here, went from BSD to Windows now here with you, and I have a small problem.
This is pretty much a fresh install, and KDE will sometimes become unresponsive and the computer will disconnect USB devices (mouse keyboard). Although I can still use the trackpad and keyboard on the laptop, no shortcuts work, I cannot kill process, open the terminal, or anything else, and can only reboot the compute via power switch.
I was told by an experienced Ubuntu user to try to replicate the error on demand and post the logs. The problem is, I can’t. It will happen pretty randomly, sometimes when watching flash, or sometimes downloading from Yast2. I did take my last logs from a recent crash though and have the pastbin Jan 3 19:54:02 linux-yiyn su: (to root) kris on / - Linux logfile
Also as a side note, although running on older hardware, OpenSUSE never seems to utilize more then 7% CPU (1.5Ghz single core) and 130Mb RAM (2Gb DDR). I am told this is unlike linux systems, that they usually idle high.
System: openSUSE 11.3 (i586)
KDE: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4) “release 3”

I see where your hard drive sda says it is 112 C which is 233.6 Degrees F! That is really hot and makes wonder if your cooling system is working properly or is dirty. First off, Linux systems have been known to not control fans so well on Laptops. Further, old computers running Linux can be dirty, need to be cleaned and having all the heat sinks blown out. It is possible the problem is something else, but a really hot hard drive could cause a problem for you. One other note, I have had better luck running the 64 bit version of openSUSE and with 2 GB of memory, it would work fine on your system. I would create a 4 GB SWAP file and all should work great. Check out that high temperature first.

I built my own chill mat to solve heating issues, and still receive crashes. Also, my USB devices are ejected periodically, making it difficult to partition or do a download to my external, or type, use mouse, ect. I am wary about installing 64 bit on my system due to the i386 proccessor and older mobo. Should I bite the bullet and go ahead, if it can solve my crashes then I will try.

Do tell us the brand model and speed of your CPU so I may look it up for compatibility with the 64 bit version of openSUSE. It has been a while since I ran into a 32 bit only CPU, but they do exist.

Could running a dual monitor display have anything to do with this as well? Sorry for being such an amatuer 
Running a dual monitor on a slow system might be a problem, but it would be easy to check by just disconnecting the second monitor to see what difference it would make. I really though the CPU have works with 64 bit. One could boot from the 64 bit disk and see if you get an error message from it as it will not run on a 32 bit only system.
