hello guys, i’m new to kde and the opensuse community… i have a question regarding some desktop settings… i have a dual monitor setup with seperate x screens and Xinerama… i am able to drag desktop icons across both screens no problem… how come when i delete an icon or folder from either screens it removes from both… same as when i create a folder it creates to both monitors… when i go to desktop activities and set it to folder view it shows the folder on both monitors… if i set one monitor to folder view and the other to desktop i am unable to drag them across screens… how can i fix this? there must be a way i can have folder view on both without having duplicate folders on both screens… any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I feel the basic issue is that there is but one desktop folder (~/Desktop) where your icons reside, not one per monitor or per Layout setting even though you can have some different settings like the wallpaper setting. As for icons, they are just files in your Desktop folder and when they are removed they are just gone, no matter which monitor they are shown on. When using two monitors I don’t use clone view and prefer the second monitor is an extension of the first, creating a larger desktop. I do this to allow two or more windows to exist on separate monitors, but not as two separate users as it were. It sounds as you are doing great with your dual monitor setup so far.
Thank You,
