KDE Connect uses 100% CPU

I have Opensuse 42.3 with Gnome 3.20.2. I recently installed KDE Connect. It will use 100%-107% CPU and is quite annoying. Does anyone know what is causing this or how to remedy it?

@Arodd2000:

Because you’re using GNOME rather than KDE, you may need to install some more KDE components to properly support “KDE Connect”.
Check the output of “zypper info --requires kdeconnect-kde”.

  • Make sure that, you have installed the KDE packages which supply the “Qt5” and “KF5” library files indicated.

Also, make sure that, you have the “kdeconnect-kde-lang” package installed …

https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home%3Asiegel/indicator-kdeconnect builds indicator-kdeconnect, which is meant for non KDE desktops. A friend uses it on TW with GNOME, TW has it included in the distro.

I believe all the requirements were installed when I installed KDEConnect. Here is what zypper spits out and everything seems to be installed. KDE connect works for a while before starting to use 100% CPU, and even then it continues to work, just draining my laptop of resources. Just to try it, I installed indicator-KDEConnect to find out what happens. I will report back.

AFAICS, the current community/user build of “indicator-kdeconnect” by «siegel» is broken and, it’s strongly recommended to contact the folks who are privately building packages before actually installing what they’re building …
The community build made by «twotaps» seems to be, at least for Leap 15.0, more successful …

I swapped providers. After some time though, KDEConnect was using 100% again. It works flawlessly other than it hogs resources.
