I am using suse 11.2 running kde-4.3 . whenever i tried to install google earth and matlab it gives an error ,your x-server is not running , please guide me
Hello harendra_321203 and welcome to the community!
When exactly do you get this message.
When you install it? Or when you run it?
And could you post the terminal output of these programs?
Good luck!
And please, explain how you try to install, and run. If you run KDE, the X server is running, no desktop without it. So something else must be going on. I suspect you’re trying to run the apps as root from a terminal. You shouldn’t.
By default xorg.conf is not configured in 11.2; to configure it run sax2 and save the configuration, Your graphics will already have been configured without needing xorg.conf but it is possible Google Earth is looking for xorg.conf.
More likely trying to install as root. GoogleEarth is an exception to the rule to install as root. Don’t know about metlab.
