kde bug versus thunderbird?

Hello,

I’m an old kde user, but now I can only use xfce (may be I will stick with it, really nice  because of what seems like a very recent and annoying bug.

But it seems to happen only in thunderbird, so I don’t know how to report it.

the bug is simple to report: a right clic on a mailbox in thunderbird freezes thunderbird. Only in kde, under xfce no problem. and only since two days max!

did somebody else experiment this?

thanks

(openSUSE 12.1, kde 4.7.2, I have openSUSE BuildService - KDE:Extra in the repositories)

Running from a terminal yelds no useful message? Was this just after updating to TB 15? Perhaps you may want to try to donwgrade TB and see if it works. I know I had to do this due to issues with this version and the lightning addon.

I’m using openSUSE 12.2 with KDE 4.8.5, and Thunderbird 15.0 causes me no issues. (I’m using DavMail for MS Exchange connectivity).

dowgrading thunderbird do not makes any better, and from terminal there is absolutely no message (or in fatc no different message than from working xfce session).

Looks like it’s a kde problem, however my kde seems to be stock (compiled in 2011!), but there are so many smalll parts… and may be it’s a completely different problem :frowning:

looks like I have to wait a bit and hope it will solve by it self :frowning:

thanks

(by the way xfce is not so bad

Hi kdd

See if the crashreporter tool helps:

Mozilla Crash Reporter - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

Maybe review the following too:

Corrupt mailbox in Thunderbird

It could be due to corrupt or full mailbox perhaps. I don’t know why it crashes in one desktop environment and not the other, but that may only be a symptom, not the cause…

why not use YaST to create a new test user…then log out and back in
as that new test user…and, try thunderbird there…i guess it won’t
show the same problem…which will mean there is something amiss in
your /home (and not in the new test user /home)
