KDE becomes non-responsive. OpenSuSE 13.1 64B

KDE becomes episodically non-responsive. A typical example is having Kontact running, the browser, and a couple of LibreOffice documents open. Things will be running smoothly, then KDE stops responding to the Keyboard, mouse click and mouse hover. The timing of this appears to be random, although it can’t go more than a few hours without this happening.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks.

I have recently been seeing about what you describe on one of my systems. I’m pretty sure that it is a hardware problem, possibly related to the hard drive. See this recent thread

Had a similar problem with standard 13.1 and also with 12.3 when I had
installed later versions of the kernel. I suspect it was problems with
nouveau driver but can’t be sure. Switching to nVidia driver seems to
have fixed it.
