KDE 4 ?

OS 11.0, KDE 4. How do I move (drag n’ drop) something from desktop to /home?

When I try it just goes under the /home window.

Thanks,
Ron

thats not possible in kde 4.0.4 as far as I know, sorry

Thanks Snake,
Kinda puts the kobash to 4 then, huh?

If u have experience with linux I think u should upgrade to kde 4.1 beta 2 like I did

Trust me its way cooler though not 100% stable, I will be writing how to manage folders and stuff on it on my blog soon

Its got a folder view widget that points to different directories as well as the desktop and allows u to perform all functions like moving renaming folders and stuff through the widget itself.

Just add the openSUSE 11.0 factory repo for kde 4 here:

KDE/Repositories - openSUSE

then upgrade, think about it cause kde 4 default is unstable and factory is unstable as well, nothing to loose really

if u need any help upgrading then ask

danorske,
Once you upgrade, the way to D&D from Desktop to home is like this:
Open dolphin look for Desktop folder open that then go up to File in the menubar select & click Open New Window. It’ll open to Home in a new window then you can D&D between the 2.
Not like KDE 3.5.9 but there’s reason to believe it will soon.

Thanks,
I added this to repos but I’m not sure what to do next.

What is the output of “zypper dist-upgrade”?

Umm. Loads of dependency issues with this, most seem to be PIM related. Too scary I feel.
Won’t the kde4 stable desktop just progress to 4.1 in time?

Problem: epiphany-extensions-2.22.0-37.1.x86_64 requires mozilla-xulrunner181 = 1.8.1.13, but this requirement cannot be provided
Solution 1: Following actions will be done:
deinstallation of epiphany-extensions-2.22.0-37.1.x86_64
deinstallation of epiphany-extensions-lang-2.22.0-37.1.x86_64
Solution 2: do not install mozilla-xulrunner181-1.8.1.14-2.4.x86_64
Solution 3: Ignore some dependencies of epiphany-extensions

Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/3/C]:

then continues to more. How should I respond to this?
Ron

I would go in and block mozilla-xrunner to protect your epiphany packages and then try the dist-upgrade again. You can always go back later and unblock it later when this is no longer an issue.

zypper addlock mozilla-xulrunner181

I remember I had to remove policykit-kde and kontact etc, could u post a screenshot of all the dependency problems and remember to add all kde factory repos such as extras and community as well for OS 11

After running this. the next screen came with.

Continue? [YES/no]:

Shoud I say yes?

OK, did you say factory or unstable factory?

factory repo

Looks fine so long as you don’t use the nvidia legacy driver.
