Is KDE 4.7.3 available via the stable release? If not, does anyone have the release date or alternative?
The page giving you all the info you need to have about KDE is here:
KDE repositories - openSUSE
The repos considered stable you can visit them here:
Stable aka. KDS (KDE SC 4.7)
you will notice that the description of the content is not sufficiently updated. Indicated as 4.7.2 in reality the status is 4.7.4.
Please hold in mind that in these versions (as in 12.1) AFAIK Kmail 2.0 is still broken.
Thanks for the response; however, how would you install the distro repos? Not sure how to connect the dots.
AFAICS there’s no 4.7.3 in the repos anymore. Currently stable has 4.7.4-3.11.4 and Release/47 has 4.7.4-4.22.4.
To add a repo use Yast>Repositories>Add>URL>type the url shown in the repo list stakanov linked above. If using the Release/47 add the core and extra repos.
Of course you can do this via command line with zypper, I usually prefer yast.
You can find a page with the proposed update procedures here:
SDB:KDE upgrade - openSUSE
Please note that there are precise repos that have to be deactivated before doing it. I would make sure “comunity contributions” is not active anymore. I would first deactivate updated apps and extra and do the core update. I then would update the rest. Gave with me good and stable results.
Here is what I get:

Just a remark (while I am having a look), could you please always post tables and terminal output in “code” tags, because it makes it so much more readable. Thank you. (You find them in the “advanced functions” of the posting windows. http://forums.opensuse.org/content/33-posting-code-tags-guide.html
Not for being “viced” but I know already people will tell you in future and because it speeds things up. Thanks.
Well, yes, it is logic. You tell him to do the update from the original distribution DVD, and of course there is nothing to do. You need to tell him from where you want to do the update. So I would give for comodity a short name like in the howto. Which gives (provided you call it like them KDS):
zypper dup **--from KDS**
While in your case, the command would be (if the highlighted one is the added 4.74 repo):
zypper dup --from **openSUSE-12.1-12.1-1.4 **
Your computer is as dump as a post, it will only do EXACTLY what you will tell him.
Thanks for the information and assistance. Now running KDE 4.7.4. The 4.7.4 repo was openSUSE_12.1.
