kde 4.6

has the kde team started on kde 4.6 already

I don’t know the answer to your question, but 4.5 is still at RC2 (as of July 8, 2010) and not yet final. Surely more information about 4.6, which is most likely being worked on by someone, will wait for 4.5 to become final. This is what I think anyway.

Thank You,

Vahis

openSUSE 11.3 (x86_64) 2.6.34-12-desktop

I have kde unstable active now.

So do I. Mine is from
download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.3/

I’m just wondering these:

11.3 has (and will have) officially KDE 4.4.4.
Factory will move on to 4.6 (for 11.4)

Will mine some day become 4.5 stable or what?

The KDE4:/UNSTABLE repo has 4.6 pkgs now. KDE 4.5 is temporarily MIA.

So it does (4.5.6). Does 4.5 temporarily MIA mean there will be a
another repo for it?
The community one at least is behind rc.

KDE have a repo for Mandriva and the sources repo, of course.
Neither is a real solution for me.

So I’m afraid openSUSE just skips 4.5.
Pity. It’s official release is next month.

When kde4.5 becomes final you should probably use this repo

Index of /repositories/KDE:/Distro:/Stable/openSUSE_11.3

When it does there will be an announcement. I don’t think openSUSE will auto magically update

That could well be.
It’s strange that everything in rc2 disappears and all of a sudden it
would become available as final in a different place.

I don’t get it.

There are three repositories for kde (more actually but lets just look at the three
1 kde unstable where the daily builds are
2 kde factory where the beta testing will be right now kde factory should have kde 4.5 and in November will have the 4.6 betas
3 kde distribution that has the current stable ie final release.

open SUSE has pretty much the same
OpenSuse 11.3 is final, Finished so it won’t be rebuilt for kde 4.5 but you can install it via the kde repositories
