Just upgraded to RC1, and found it just ok. Few things which were issues for me in beta stages are almost solved. Like, dolphin crash report after closing, Plasma crash after shutdown/restart, showing devices twice etc etc. They are now solved. And i feel there will be more a lot of bugs which are fixed in this RC1.
But apart from that, i got new issues now, my sound gone, system tray behaving strange after each login/restart/start. Strange like notifications, network manager, battery icon are not showing in start, if i add it through settings, it just create blank space with out icon. I guess i will play around with it and hope to get it sorted or then bug report on its way.
But atm i will focus on sound.
Any one have issues, may be other issues?
**
EDIT:** what happened to bluetooth manager?. Is it working?, not for me here.

I did have a problem with non-existent sound on my nVidia card. I checked on
the “mixer” and found that PCM had been set to zero. I recalled that
increasing this setting had been successful in the past and so it was again.

Actually it completely disable the sound device and fall back to HDMI device. I checked around every where in settings, every thing looks fine.
ATM i am on 4.5.4 now. Will check later if there are any updates from the repo.
I has made update to KDE 4.6 RC1 today. After restart of KDE I has got a message that my sound card was turned off and now a sound card with same name is in work. I find that maximum level of sound became louder. All works stably for 6 hours.
I found a workaround; albeit not a perfect one. Go into Yast —>Sound —>edit ----> reset all —>next all the way through. This will create Alsa and OSS Sound devices in Multimedia in Configure Desktop. They both work for me for playing music. I use Clementine. It’s not perfect, but it works.
In a new user account:
Sound problem exists
System tray behaves weird, items cannot be made visible.
Network management plasmoid does not keep settings.
Strange. Ran the update this morning from KDE 4.5.4 on 11.3 and no issues. I had Dolphin crash once, but I don’t seem to have any of the problems you guys have.
EDIT: I also plugged in my bluetooth dongle and the system tray icon showed up as usual. Can’t seem to transfer files to my Android phone though.
Hi isaacj87,
Are you saying you ran the update on 4.5.4 to update it, or upgraded to 4.6 RC from 4.5.4. I guess its the 1st. If so, there are no issues on 4.5.4. Its just with RC ATM. And if the 2nd, then it means maybe they are fixed(not sure). Some one who is using it can comment.
@Knurpht:
Yup, new user account does not bring any change, all the same here too.
Bad wording on my part. I upgraded my installation of 4.5.4 to 4.5.90. I checked the date on the repo and there hasn’t been an update to it since 12/23. So, I don’t think there’s been anything changes to it between the release of RC1 and my updating to it today.
Like I said, I’m not encountering any of the problems listed. I may just be lucky. quickly knocks on wood
Guess I spoke too soon. I have no sound anymore. KDE wanted to remove the devices that were “no longer in use.” I tried this trick and it worked, but as soon as I restarted, the problem persisted.
For now, I’ve installed Pulseaudio and all sound has returned.
