Is it a big deal to upgrade to KDE 4.4? I am using 11.2.
No big deal, but it’s beta and you may find odd things not quite at their best. I’m using it and find it very acceptable.
Do you know How to do it?
No I don’t, do you have a walkthrough on how to do it with out wrecking my system?
Add the Factory repo
Desktop
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2
community if you want that too
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.2_KDE4_Factory_Desktop
If you have any other kde build service disable them
Then in Yast Software Management - Filter by repository
Select the new Kde desktop repo and do this
The same with the community if you use that.
Accept
*There will likely be some dependency issues. Look for the option to make the Vendor Change in all cases to the Build service/Factory
Or post the error here. You can save it by using the expert button, save to file, then copy and paste here
So I need to add those repos to yast?
Indeed you do:)
I did this and kept getting a ton of update warnings, so I’m hoping you can help me out. I followed the “keep the obsolete” version each time for safety’s sake and when I rebooted, my system went dark. Reinstalled and am back to 4.3.1. I:
- do have the Packman Repo installed if that helps
- do have everything but these two disabled
- am refreshing them properly
Here’s the text file from one of the warning dialogs:
