This is a new clean install and I must have done something wrong here. Sorry for the huge image I know I shold be able to see the clock in the taskbar and that black and white in the panel shouldn’t be there. What do I do?
Hello FlameBait,
A while back there was a thread about the same problem: Panel Bar Changes after reboot
The solution is simple just adjust the height until the panel gets it’s color back.
Good luck!
Well I got my clock back but it’s still gray and white no matter how big I make it.
I know I am going to have to get adjusted to KDE 4.4 but why is is so hard and to configure and so screwed up?
I have no image previews just some garbled ****. How are you supposed to navigate to an image? By name? How do you change the background when you can’t see a preview of the wallpaper? All this stuff worked in KDE 3.5
KDE has had plenty of time to get this right. This really stinks.
Hello FlameBait,
In your picture it’s black and white and now you say it’s gray and white so that’s an imporvement.
I’m not sure what you want from the panel.
If you want it transparent then you need to make sure desktop effects are enabled.
To do this start System Settings->General->Desktop.
Select Desktop Effects on your left and now make sure that “Enable desktop effects” is enabled.
Maybe this thread helps: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/applications/443161-image-preview-broken-dolphin-konqueror.html
Best of luck!
I want it to be not gray and white
This all doesn’t seem to unified where one place controls everything. It seems you change one thing here it breaks it someplace else.
I am not able to navigate to any menu that follows system settings> general >desktop from either menu style.
Hello FlameBait,
It should be between your favorites by default.
You can also run it by pressing Alt+F2 and enter “systemsettings” (without the quotes)
Then select the General tab and select Desktop from there.
Well I know a trick how to get it **black **and white!
Good luck!
I got previews by installing the Nvidia repositories and the recommended Nvidia kernel module and rebooting so you are better at searching than I am.
Desktop effects seem to be on as the screen slides off as I cycle through the pager. I am getting closer I do belive. I have previews now so I can make my background less green
Right click the clock and adjust the setting to what you want.
Note all things are plasma widgets in KDE4 and they all act and are adjusted in more or less the same way.
