If i update from kde 4.3 to kde 4.4 (on opensuse 11.2), will this give me any problems when upgrading to OpenSuse 11.3 (either on-line of from CD)?
Thanks

Probably no more so that if it were 4.3.5 you were using. Actually you are more likely to get issues with 3rd party applications which may not be available immediately in 11.3
so, this means i can install it relatively safe???
yes - it will be safe. as it will be a smaller jump to 11.3 (which i understand will use kde 4.5)
sorry i am wrong there 11.3 will use kde 4.4
You can, but remember it’s development repos you are dealing with. There are the one I am using
2 | kde4_factory_community | kde4 factory community | Yes | Yes | 99 | rpm-md | http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.2_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/ |
3 | kde4_factory_desktop_1 | kde4 factory desktop | Yes | Yes | 99 | rpm-md | http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2/
openSUSE 11.3 will have KDE 4.4, so that shouldn’t cause problems.
However, sound stopped working for me in KDE 4.4 (a likely phonon issue) so I had to roll back to KDE 4.3.

Sound stopped working for me too. If I issue the following command, the sound starts working again. But I have to do it every time I reboot.
If anybody knows what I can do to fix it, please tell.
(I’ll be upgrading from 4.4.0 to 4.4.1 so that might solve it).
