KDE 4.4 Beta 1 - KTTS Broken?

Hey may be my system for all I know, but I can only get the dummy output module from KTTS - no actual test to speech.

Is this just a feature of KDE 4.4. being Beta, or user error?

Did you get anywhere with this?

I’m having the same problem with the new openSUSE 11.4 installation. All sound is otherwise OK. When I attempt to get Jovie to say something it tells me (by voice audio) that there is a problem and I should look in the log file. The log file says the following:

[Fri Apr 8 16:15:01 2011 : 613158] speechd: Configuration has been read from “/etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf”
[Fri Apr 8 16:15:01 2011 : 613190] speechd: Speech Dispatcher Logging to file /home/djm/.speech-dispatcher/log//speech-dispatcher.log

I lost the use of ktts after 11.2. I managed to get it to work in 11.4 and now the clock speaks the time and it will speak the clip board. I will have to look to see what packages I installed to get it to work when I get home from work today.
I think we need to move this to Applications or Multimedia thread so other users can fined it easier.
