There doesn’t seem to be a one-click install on KDEs page
for 4.4.4 only 4.4.3. Does anyone know if there is going to
be one for 11.2 or is Suse targeting 11.3 ?

Apparently 4.4.4 is being swerved - as they are concentrating on the forthcoming (in Aug) kde 4.5 and opensuse 11.3 due next month.
An understandable swerve, considering that 4.4.4 is a bugfix of 4.4.3, and KDE 4.5 is due in less than two months, and 11.3 isn’t due until mid-July.
Besides, 4.5 beta 2 is is the OBS (with one-clicks for the entire 11 series + Factory); why muck things up with 4.4.4 unless 4.4.3 is going to get tossed?
Even Sabayon 5.3 is only going with 4.4.3 (with 4.4.4 in Entropy), and no path to even 4.5 b2 at present.

I believe 4.4.4 doesent bring any new features, as 4.5 does.
That is precisely my point (concerning 4.4.4); there are no new features at all (4.4.3 does have new features compared to 4.3.5, which has new features compared to 4.0.2 or even 4.2).
If you aren’t going to move to 4.5 just yet, 4.4.3 is a better midway point while waiting than 4.3.5, however (though from a stability standpoint, 4.4.4 does improve on 4.4.3).
If KDE 4.3.5 were considered the equivalent of Windows 95, then 4.4.3 would be Windows 95’s OEM Service Release 2 (and 4.4.4 would be the rare Service Release 2.5). While the base system requirements didn’t change, the additional features supported certainly did.
Those using Factory for 11.2 might be interested to know it seems to have been bumped up to 4.4.4
We were told this would not happen, but it seems to be. I’m updating as I speak.
I wonder if this only applies to 11.2, as factory should reflect development, so I wonder if they are holding back plain factory that supplied 11.3 development?
I’ll be checking on it and will report…

Just updated to 4.4.4, working perfectly.
What’s up with the packagekit version that the factory repo (11.2) is requesting now? Why is it requesting packagekit > 0.6.3 for kde 4.4.4??
Currently I’m working with kde 4.4.3 (factory repo) but with packagekit 0.5.3.
Am I missing something?

That’s right but I only have this repo: Index of /update/11.2, and it only provides packagekit 0.5.3.
As far as I know this 0.6.3 version is working under the new 11.3 distro. Am I right? If so how can I get that 0.6.3 version in openSUSE 11.2??
I’m not sure I fully understand your predicament - My screenshot is a 11.2 install with kde4.4.4
and does not require any newer packagekit, as shown in the screen, and no newer version is available to me.

Sorry if I’m not explaining myself that well but at the end what I’m trying is to upgrade my kde 4.4.3 to 4.4.4.

Actually, if you look you will see this is related to the updater. In my screenshot you will see I do not have it installed. I delete it post any install because I don’t use it.
You may not want to delete it, but if you choose to keep the updater applet, it will not update that package, and the rest should proceed ok. I think. I can’t really translate your screen…
Understood. Didn’t know about that issue with the updater applet and in fact I don’t really use it (zypper rulz). Hopefuly I’ll come back with good results.

By the way following the thread, finally I get the 4.4.4 version but not without problems.
The dbus error for knetworkmanager came up and stops me for a good time. I found the solution with that .conf file you have to add and so to get it up again.
