What an improvement over 4.3.5. Thanks to all the devs and bug reporters out
there. This is big news. Kontact had become so unusable in 4.3.5 that I
stopped using it. Everything seems to have gone on a diet and it shows. Much
snappier. Kudos!

I agree.
Mr. Beer
Here here…
And it’s included as standard in 11.3! That is even better news! Looking forward to it!!
Yep from 4.3.x to 4.4.x was a big improvement for me aswell !!
Since I’m new to OpenSUSE 11.2, I have a question for those who upgraded their KDE to the latest one. Would this upgrade effect my system in a way that the upgrade to OpenSUSE 11.3 (later) would not work properly?!
No problem if you have /home on a separate partition. If you’re going to install 11.3 anyway, I suggest you wait for a week, perform a clean install of 11.3. You will have KDE4 4.4.4 anyway. The other, more bleeding edge versions for 11.3 are in the repos as well.
BTW what do you mean by latest ? in the Factory/Desktop repos? UNSTABLE?
As said, if you install 11.3 you will have KDE4 4.4.4 as well. KDE4 4.4.5 will be released in August.
Knurpht,
Thanks for the valuable info. You are right, its better to wait for the release of 11.3 since it has KDE 4.4.4 by default. By “latest” i meant KDE 4.4.4… Thanks again
