Hi,
I wanted to know if it is safe to upgrade to KDE 4.3.3 from stock KDE 4.3.1. Is it stable for you?
Is this the correct way?
sudo zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/43/openSUSE_11.2/ openSUSE_112_KDE43
sudo zypper dup

Just add the kde43 repo
open yast software management
filter by repo and select the new kde43 and click the switch packages link at the top of the packages list
Like this (It’s showing packman but you get the idea)
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing
Thanks caf4926.
I was just checking since someone said he was having High CPU usage with it. I guess I’ll find out.
Perfect for me. But you never know. Different hardware etc…
Easy enough to roll back
Good luck;)
After updating to KDE 4.3.3, will the openSUSE KDE4 integration patches still work? I mean, will Firefox and OpenOffice still use KDE4 themes and notifications and all such patches?
I confess I am unsure exactly what you mean here. But I’m not aware of any issues with the upgrade.
Thanks for the reply. Also, is it possible that an official KDE 4.3.3 upgrade will be coming any time soon?
Officially openSUSE 11.2 is released with kde4.3.1
That will not change.
The Build Service provides update options and the kde43 is an official update to kde4.3.3 (This will change however as it did with the kde42 - And I expect in time kde43 will be ended). But I’m unsure on the detail.
certainly it makes sense to upgrade to 4.3.3 - there is no mega difference but more minor improvements (mainly behind the scenes).
kde is just like an escalator - with kde 4.3.4 due out next week and the 4.4 next year…
