KDE 4.2 double

Got a rather odd problem, everything in the application launcher shows up twice.

Similar thing happening in dolphin if I try to paste a path in the adress bar… it does it twice. (e.g. /usr/share pasted becomes /usr/share/usr/share/)

anyone else experiencing this problem or knows how to solve it?
(Have this on my server as well, but that’s related to a sticky key… related to some cola accident near the keyboard)

Yes , it’s happening on my laptop but not on my Desk really weird, and r using the same version of kde 4.2 …:frowning:

Opened a bug report @ the KDE bug tracker.

Mmmh I’m experiencing it on my laptop as well… wonder if it’s laptop specific.

Well “laptop specific”…soh here’s my trouble laptop conf.

opensuse 11.1 64bit (kde 4.196)
AMD 64 4000+ mobility
Radeon x600 using “1.3 Mesa 7.2”…
by do way it’s a Gateway

No it is not laptop specific, it happens on my laptop and my computer too.

I don’t even can tell if this is a bad or good new…but
the only thing that i did different when i was installen if i can remember was , on my Desktop i remove “.kde4” before install kde4.2…on my laptop i think i live it there…

Suse 11.1 x64, Kde 4.2beta (unstable repo), Opera 9.x weekly

No problem here kde 4.2 rc1
My repo is not the unstable, it is the factory;)

If you are interested in seeing a stabilizing KDE 4.2, you should switch from UNSTABLE to FACTORY. The KDE 4.2 branch packages are going there from now on. UNSTABLE will be for the KDE4 trunk which will eventually become KDE 4.3; it’s likely to be a rough ride there.

Are those experiencing the problem running from UNSTABLE?

I switched to factory this week and I have the problem

If by rc1 you mean 4.1.96, I can’t find it anywhere in the factory repo.

Can you provide a link?

I’m using Factory … current version "4.1.96 (KDE 4.1.96 (KDE 4.2 RC1)) “release 76.2"”…both my Desk and my Lap but only the laptop is getting the "double " problem …

Application Launcher shows double entries when i use the “search” but the applications entries are not duplicates ,that doesn’t happen when i look for an app with Alt+F2 …

Same, although I am using unstable.
Limiting it to unstable seems out of the question though as everyone else seems to be using factory… I might do that as well.
Who knows it might get rid of Amarok wining it can’t be updated… although I might as well uninstall it as I don’t use it.

Well, yes, actually, I have some problems when adding some widgets that KDE freezes. Then widget is terminated, and sometimes it leaves black screen.
Other than that, it works OK.

I have the same issue with doubled items in kickoff menu.
What’s strange for me - in krunner it’s OK.

OpenSuSE 11.1 KDE4.2RC1 4.1.96 from Factory repo.

you can try reopening the bug report (link posted earlier), but they don’t seem very willing to fix it as they closed it for a second time now… and I to be honest, I don’t feel like reopening it for a second time.

Okay I did reopen it after all, and attached a screenshot showing some manual entries I made are in fact only done once.

I have KDE4.2 from the unstable repo.
I get double entries when i search for a app in the kicker search bar
everything doubles up and clicking either opens the app succesfully.

I tried deleteing .kde4 & .kde folders but didnt fix.

Feel free to add a comment on the bug @ 180689 – Double launcher icons plasma perhaps if someone else joins in on the discussion it wont be marked as “INVALID / WONT FIX” without actually being looked into.
