KDE 4.2 BbalL widget invisble by default

On every install of KDE 4 I’ve ever done the BbalL widget hasn’t appeared to work. I just updated to KDE 4.2 (on openSUSE 11.1) and it is still invisible by default. I have a virtual machine running openSUSE 11.1 and KDE 4.2 and it’s invisible there too.

The widget is installed as part of the kde4-plasma-addons package and there’s a file called /usr/share/kde4/apps/bball/bball.svgz which is presumably supposed to the image used by default.

I decided to poke around a bit and noticed that in the dialogue for specifying your own image the file types it filters the to include svg but does NOT include .svgz. If I create /usr/share/kde4/apps/bball/bball.svg by using

cat bball.svgz | gunzip > bball.svg

then try adding an instance of the BbalL widget then the ball is now visible.

I cannot find any mention this problem and yet in my experience it has always been there. Does anyone else see this problem? I’m wondering if I ought to file a bug report.

Thanks for the tip

OK… so does this mean you also see the problem I described?

Yes, i couldn’t see it at all, i did what You wrote and i can see the ball now, after playing with it for 5 minutes i got bored with it
