I tried KDE 4.1 again and its not giving me the double images as before, but its much slower than KDE3.5 and you can’t add a folder to the desktop. What’s with all the panels and widgets? why can’t you add a folder to the desktop? and why does the panel of icons float under Firefox or other programs? Maybe by KDE 4.2 they’ll get it together.
Anybody else having these problems? At this point KDE 4.1 is unusable. 
i just think it is a user error or just not knowing what your doing in the new desktop
i have 4.1.1 working perfectly
and you can add a folder icon on the desktop if you know how so ignorance doesnt make kde 4.1 unsuable

Where is the link to the videos you mentioned?
Also, 4.1 is much slower than 3.5. What causes that? I thought it would be equal if not faster than 3.5.
Are you using nvidia drivers?
Make sure you ‘Unlock Widgets’ [CTRL+L] before you try to add a folder to the desktop. Works fine.

Thanks for the videos, they are helpful.I see that you have to be in the desktop area to be able to add a folder to it. it’s like the desktop area is an island that floats on the screen.
After rebooting, KDE 4.1 seems to work better than before. I’ll have to get used to it.
