I have run the update we have all been waiting for and it seems to working, at least I haven’t come across any issues yet.
I’ve decided to have another go at KDE4 – reinstalled on a test computer at level KDE4.0
So just so I’m certain – do I goto Yast → Software Repositories → Add → Community Repos: Enable OpenSuse Build KDE4 Factory Desktop?
Then what do I do to avoid the one dependency error associated with libqt4 and the zillion associated with libqt4-x11?
I have same issue except I run x64 and there is no kdebase-runtime for x64 so I can not update.
I have these, use update all unconditionally:
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.0
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Extra-Apps/openSUSE_11.0
Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.0_KDE4_Factory_Desktop
- caf4926,
I also had to boldly ignore dependencies for libqt4-sql. Everything seems to work, except for Compiz: Window decorations are gone.

Add the Qt repo. That will resolve the problems.lol!

Durr. I forgot to mention the Qt repo,- Right you do need it!!
I have it too. There has been some talk about it in the forum recently.
There seem to be some compiz updates NOW. Maybe that will help.
I can’t update! my openSuse 11.0 KDE 4.1.1
nothing service not libqt4-x11>=4.4.3, wich kdebase4-runtime-4.1.2.i586 need
why must I do?
Sorry my ‘english’ - I hope you understand

Is there enough 64-bit support in KDE4 base packages now or do they run in
32-bit emulation mode?

what you need to do is find out who is responsible for building the kde4.x repositories and ask them why the problem of incompatibilities between repo’s in a recurring problem, especially in the kde4 unstable’s
Suse 11.0 x64, Kde 4.1beta (factory repo), Opera 9.x weekly
are you all adding the right repositories?
I had qt44 and was getting problems
so I deleted it, added
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Qt/openSUSE_11.0
and have had no problems with it. Just pick a new qt with each release I guess, lol

damn, I too was using qt44. So I’m not the only confused by how the kde4 repos have been set up
Suse 11.0 x64, Kde 4.1beta (factory repo), Opera 9.x weekly
That works!! If you already have the Qt44 just edit it and remove “44” and then save and refresh the enabled repos.
Not sure why the package maintainers do it this way as it is confusing and there is no release telling us about it. Kinda sloppy package management if you ask me, but glad the fix is there.
Maybe its because it is a KDE release and not an OpenSUSE release???
I added Qt, KDE4 factory + KDE4 extra apps
Then updated Patterns KDE4
Then updated all
Worked fine
Thanks everyone especially caf4926
Could the 64-bit side of things be missing a bit? I’ve followed the suggestions in this thread but I’m still getting lot’s of libqt4-sql, etc, errors…:\
By this you mean errors in trying to actually update?
What repo’s do you have enabled?
in a terminal do:
zypper lr
post here
