:frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

the perennial question, have you uninstalled beagle ? check “top” in a console to see what else could be slowing it down

Andy

this s my top info…
Picasa Web Albums - Archu - snapshots
i see most of the memory getting used up :frowning:

Your memory will get used, it’s how *nix’s work.As for the snap-shot, get rid of all things beagle, guaranteed to slow the system down when you need it most

Andy

done tat now… uninstalled it…
but why is it stil slow… like even if i click i see the hour glass, taking few seconds, though i don run a graphic oriented game or something :expressionless:

There might be a process running called ‘BEAGLE’. I have also KDE 3.5 running on a computer having 1gb ram and it’s fast.

Try using the command ‘top’ in a console window and changes are great that BEAGLE is running. Beagle is not a dog, but a memory hog!

hey guys…
uninstalling beagle really does help a lot…
now the laptop is lot more faster… thanks a lot…
anything else that might interest me for a faster performance?

adding noatime, nodiratime to the options already in /etc/fstab will speed hdd access a bit up, would try it 1st on your /home before trying it on more vital area’s

Thank you… I will try ur option too…
