I run Kde 3.5, n my dell inspiron system, and guess wat its very very very slow… and its kind of irritating for this much ram, i am quite sure somethign is goin on, please let me know how to make the system response time faste. swap is 2gb, ram is 2g, hard disk is 120gb, intel core 2 duo processor…
normally i run firefox, ktorrent, file browser, and open amarok player or vlc. tats it, for tat it doesnt respond to clicks for few seconds…
Your memory will get used, it’s how *nix’s work.As for the snap-shot, get rid of all things beagle, guaranteed to slow the system down when you need it most
done tat now… uninstalled it…
but why is it stil slow… like even if i click i see the hour glass, taking few seconds, though i don run a graphic oriented game or something
hey guys…
uninstalling beagle really does help a lot…
now the laptop is lot more faster… thanks a lot…
anything else that might interest me for a faster performance?
adding noatime, nodiratime to the options already in /etc/fstab will speed hdd access a bit up, would try it 1st on your /home before trying it on more vital area’s
