kde-3.5.9 SUSE menu style icon

How do I change the SUSE menu style icon in KDE-3.5.9? I don’t want to use the KDE style menu.

Please refer to Eyecandy for your KDE-Desktop - KDE-Look.org
You can see the icon themes here.

I want the location of the of the file or configuration option for the SUSE menu. I don’t want an icon theme. No matter what the icon theme is the SUSE menu does not change icons.

KDE/Ideas/11.1 - openSUSE

Someone suggested in the wiki there that the menu icon change to the KDE branded one. I’m not sitting in front of a SUSE box at the moment, but I thought you might be able to change it by right clicking on the menu and selecting menu editor. I could be wrong. I try so many different distros.

There are branding-openSUSE and branding-upstream package for KDE3 and KDE4. I definitely prefer the openSUSE branding. The problem is with the KDE3 SUSE menu icon. All I want is the KDE4 SUSE menu icon which is a circle with a Geeko head. Anyways it’s pretty trivial.

Right click on the icon and select “switch to … whatever”. Is that what you mean?

This is funny. I’ll put up some screenshots of what I mean.

No he doesnt mean that.He want insted of a lizzard to have a monkey as an icon in the K menu.I hadnt think about it so far and i was trying to changr it as well.Cant find…I remember it was somewhere.Ill play with the settings a bit more…

EDIT:Ok if i understood corect waht u want to do go to
/usr/share/apps/kicker/builtins/
find the k menu icon and replace it whit the one you want,by using the same name.
(If its not at /usr/share/apps/kicker/builtins/ it should be somewhere at /usr/share/apps/kicker/)

For KDE 3.5.9:
/home/<username>/.kde/share/apps/kicker/pics/kmenu_basic.mng

You will have to either logout/login or just switch to clasic and then back to SUSE menu style (by right clicking on the icon).

Is that what you mean?

Your answer seems correct except for the fact that I do not have a pics directory in ~/.kde4 or ~/.kde. Here’s what I have for the kicker in kde3 http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4967/susemenukde3nh3.png](http://imageshack.us) and here’s what I want http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1227/susemenukde4bw3.png](http://imageshack.us) which is in kde4. In /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics are the images displayed on the kicker for kde3. So I linked them to my home kde directory

ln -s /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics/*

now I will just replace the kmenu_basic.png with the one from kde4. Except kde4 uses svg and I found the file here, /usr/share/icons/oxygen/scalable/places/start-here-branding.svg. This seems so crappy, I can’t believe there isn’t a way to easily change the kicker icon. So, after converting the svg to png and overwriting the link in ~/.kde3 for kmenu_basic.png I hope to have the round geeko kicker image.

The file extension should be mng as stated previously. My post above says png. That works. Now to convert the svg image to the size I want.

Here is my kde3 kicker menu. Looks great. Too bad it took so much effort for something so trivial. http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/7517/kde4kickericonmenuii8.jpg](http://imageshack.us)

If you create that folder in your home directory, you don’t have to replace the one in opt/kde3/…The home folder will override what is in that folder.

Right, I didn’t replace the global kde directory. What I did was link the pics directory from /opt/kde/ … to my home. Then I replaced the kmenu_basic.mng file with mine.

I have a couple of them that i use. where did you find that one? kde-look.org?

The new menu icon is from KDE4 /usr/share/icons/oxygen/scalable/places/start-here-branding.svg.
