kcmsambaconf

I’ve got the following problem:

  • first installed OpenSUSE 11 with KDE3 and all is working fine
  • than installed KDE4 ad changed kdm to version 4
  • all is working good except kcmsambaconf
  • also filesharing works

If I try to open SAMBA configuration it asks for root password… than nothing comes out
I tried to launch “kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf” from command line, and it tells me “Could not find module ‘kcmsambaconf’” but both kcmsambaconf.desktop and kcm_kcmsambaconf.ko are in the right place (/usr/share/kde4/services and /usr/lib/kde4)

I tried also removing and reinstalling kde4_filesharing, but no result.

Everything is updated to the latest KDE4 version (4.1.3)

I think is something about the old KDE3 that interfere with KDE4, but I didn’t find nothing… every kcm module is working find except kcmsambaconf.

I hope to solve this… or I’ll wait installing 11.1 from scratch the next month.

Thank you in advance…

Nobody know how kcmshell4 works in finding modules? Which config file use, or which variable search to point to the modules path?

Strange…

Maybe use YaST samba server module as a workaround?

I guess that’s what most openSUSE users use.

Never even tried the kcontrol/systemsettings for it :\

Ok, thank you anyway :\

The problem was that root was only executed in kde3 before and never in kde4, so, executing “kcmshell4 kcmsambaconf” in root mode will not find the module. After logged in one time with root in kde4 and then back to my user, the samba configuration module works fine… except its window is larger than 1024x768 and I’m unable to seek its bottom buttons… :\

See ja.
