I used to use Kcalc in KDE3, I think it was a nice program, when I updated to kde4 I continued using it (I,m not sure if it was the kde4 version or still the kde3 version). In an update of the system kclack has become ugly: it has lost the “scientific mode” so, for instance I can work in binary or hexadecimal.
Is there any way of switching it to the previous behavior
The version I’ve installed now is kcalc-4.6.0-3.4.x86_64 from the OSS repo.

i don’t remember what kcalc looked like under KDE 4.6.0, but here, using
KDE 4.7.2 it does have the different modes like scientific, etc.,
available. it’s under “settings” now; IIRC it used to be under “view.”
