Kate4 now crashes in KDE 3.5

Hi folks,
I am not new to Suse or Linux, but I am not that great with either as well.

I installed Suse 11 a while back with KDE 3.5 and somewhere along the line the updater gave me Kate for KDE4 which has been working fine until now. Last night some KDE specific updates showed up in the updater (should have looked closer) and after running them Kate4 crashes instantly with a signal 11 (SIGSEGV) deal. The backtrace has nothing:

I’m not too hopeful as these types of things never do seem to get actually resolved, but I would really love to get Kate4 running again. I cannot stand KDE 4 and specifically have avoided 11.2 for that reason. This is a sort of toy LAMP box and is setup otherwise exactly how I need it to be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Anyone with even a stab? Library conflict or something?

I too used to run Kate4 under KDE3.5 but that was over a year ago and the libraries have been updated in various ways, not least to take account of newer versions of Qt4; so my guess is that that is the problem.

For most of this year I have been running KDE4 on top of the unofficial 11.1 KDE3.5 but was getting more and more dependency conflicts with KDE4 programs that I have installed 11.2 KDE4 and am running the few KDE3.5 programs I need with that.

I’m not going to go off on a rant, but KDE4 is exactly what I don’t want in a DE.

Bums me out about Kate though. I got really used to it and really addicted to that incredibly useful find bar on the bottom.
