I want to repeat though that xine does have a settings dialog in the GUI (click on the wrench symbol, or select Settings->Setup… in the right-click menu) where you can change all that. You may have to raise the “Experience level” on the “gui” tab though to make all options appear.
Kaffeine on the other hand doesn’t offer any possibility to configure libxine. But the file is the same format as xine’s so you can just copy that over.
You could even setup ~/.kde4/share/apps/kaffeine/xine-config as symlink to ~/.xine/config, then every change to the settings you make in xine would take effect in Kaffeine as well.
