I’m running an ASUS M4A785-M 64 bit motherboard, on which i’ve installed
Opensuse 11.2 KDE4.
I have one DVD ROM drive, and 1 CDRW drive. These are only optical drives
installed.
I have all the files from the one-click multi media .ymp file installed.
Kaffeine can find and play audio CD files from the CD drive. It cannot find
either CD or DVD files on the DVD drive. I get the same message as above
whenm I try to play something in the DVD Drive - cannot find input plugins
for MRL (DVD:/). This is true with both DVDs and CDs under Kaffeine.
I suspect we both have the same problem.
I see that the DVD shows up under /media when it is installed but Kaffeine
can’t find it at all.
Yesterday, I installed openSUSE 11.2 on a box with two optical drives, along with the additions required for multimedia. One drive plays DVDs, but the other gives the “Cannot find input plugin for MRL [dvd:/]” message. I can change which one works by swapping the IDE connectors. The one on the second IDE channel works. When I have time, I’ll put them as master and slave on the same channel to see if they both work.
My suggestion, as long as you do not mind opening the box, is to try changing the IDE channel. Of course, you may be using USB or Firewire, in which case this is not very helpful advice…
