k3b not recognizing CD writer(s)

Hi

I have two CD writers on my system - an external AOpen USB writer, and an internal HP DVD writer. (Both work fine with Knoppix, Ubuntu and Windows, so hardware problems can be ruled out).

k3b doesn’t detect them at all. Is there some extra package or something which I have to install?

If you need more information, let me know what you need and where to get it, and I’ll get it.

Fixed it myself.

It was a simple permissions issue.

To do so :

Open YAST, go to user and group management.

Highlight the user(s) who want to write with K3B to the cdrom
Click on Edit
Click on Details
add the user(s) to the CDROM and DISK group
Click on OK
Exit YAST

K3B should be working for the specific user(s).
