K3B, NeroLinux, Burn4Free, burnatonce, ImgBurn...

There are many tools for burning images and creating CDs/DVDs out there. Here’s the question: Which one is the currently most equipped for OpenSuse? Which ones are RECOMMENDABLE? Thanks for useful answers.

Have you tried what comes with OpenSUSE? k3b (if you have the KDE stuff
at least installed, even if you are not using it primarily) is my
favorite, though I think ‘brasero’ is the default for Gnome and is
probably also just fine.

Good luck.

I 2nd that.
K3b for KDE.
Brasero for Gnome.

I’ve tried some of the commercial Linux CD burning programs, but in most cases I always had to tinker with it to actually detect I had a CD/DVD drive. Other than the usual set of bugs, I haven’t had any trouble with k3b. If I were you, I’d stick with that.

Hm… NeroLinux seems to work perfectly too…

Another vote for k3b.

Still lacking AFAIK on Blu-ray write support though.
But you said CD/DVD… I think it’s the best app built on top of the
lower level tools… which is ALSO an important note since the choices,
apart from something commercial like Nero, use the lower level tools
(cdrecord and it’s free-er variants, etc.).

Blu-ray is supported by k3b version 1.66.0
the only reason i know this is cause i was gonna burn a movie but it was to large for a dvd and it asked for a blu-ray plus if you gotto about k3b under the help menu it says “K3b is a full-featured CD/DVD/Blu-Ray burning and ripping application.”

Hpow about a great App for KDE4 guys?

Mask,
See above K3B version 1.66 It works!

Hi
Yup it’s called GNOME…!! <ducking>

One Community behind K3B. LOVE IT! rotfl!
Tell me: Whats the main advantage between K3B and…let’s say NeroLinux (a program that many people I know favor)?

I think the main advantage of K3B is that it allows you to easily burn CDs, DVDs,… :stuck_out_tongue:

No, really, K3B just did everything I expect from a media burning application, and is well integrated into KDE (e.g. right-click an iso file to burn it). So I never used anything else nor cared to look for something else.

Therefore one should ask: What is the main disadvantage of K3B? Why do some your friends prefer something else?
