I’m a new user of OpenSUSE, and as much as I like the distro, it seems unstable on my computer for some reason. As soon as I turn on my computer, I get a green bar that intermittently flashes at the bottom of my screen. This persists until the computer freezes and gets rainbow bars all across the screen. I don’t know what to do. Can anybody help me?
When you think that “it seems unstable on my computer for some reason.”, it might be of interest to tell more about your computer. Maker, type, memory size. And if you installed openSUSE multi-boot with something else or not.
But when you get strange things on the screen, immediatly after switching on, then openSUSE can hardly be involved. You should first get some screen from the BIOS. The same you got before you installed openSUSE.
Of special interest is whether your new machine <ever> displayed properly after first boot after installation.
If you had immediate problems, you’ll need to know what your GPU is, and search these forums for posts related to your GPU. You might need to disable KDM or change your display driver.
