I know this was a previous topic of turmoil but I just wanted to check in since I have not seen the update in my system yet
It was released 2 days ago. Takes some time to build and validate. It’ll show up when that’s done.
thank you!
I’ve had 6.1.0 for two days - and there are a lot of errors in the language translation, at least for the German language. Apart from that, I haven’t noticed any differences to version 6.0.5 so far!
Once again, a lot is going wrong with KDE!
There are quite a few changes, both visible and under the hood
Corner radiuses have also been all made consistent, which should provided a more rounded (not necessarily my cup of tea) and consistent UI all-round
Anything specific going wrong with KDE other than typical major release growing pains?
I use the German version of Plasma 6, where many functions are not translated into German, even those that were already translated in 6.0.5. One assumes that the situation will improve from version to version. A mistake! If you use the English version, you will of course not have these problems. And I can’t judge how it is in other languages either.
Apart from that, it is unsatisfactory that there has still not been a complete changeover to Plasma 6. Furthermore, many Plasma 5 system files are required, as well as large parts of Qt 5. It is also not yet clear when the remaining packages will be converted from Plasma 5 to Plasma 6, and when the entire Qt 5 packages can therefore be deleted. I have a very full system partition and would be happy if I could finally delete the old Plasma 5 and Qt 5 packages completely. The switch to Plasma 6 was made in connection with the switch from Qt 5 to Qt 6, among other things, because Qt 5 is not being further developed. It remains incomprehensible why, after ten years of development, it is not possible to make a complete changeover.
Strange. Snapshot 20240622 appears to be “published”:
yet the diff here is empty https://openqa.opensuse.org/snapshot-changes/opensuse/Tumbleweed/diff/20240622
And zypper dup doesn’t find it, not even after a refresh:
I guess there’s another step after “published”, before it becomes available for download?
The infrastructure (mirrors/repos) also need time to sync after a snapshot is published. And the 20240622 Snapshot is not announced on the factory mailing list yet.
