Just another Problem concerning WLAN-USB sticks

At first i want to say hello to everyone on this board. (HELLO!)
The next point is that i want to apologize for what i am going to write now.
I hope you can understand my problem…

Well let’s start…

First: I have a NETGEAR MA111 USB Device, i think its an Intersil prism inside (2.x or 3.0)
I am operating with openSUSE 11.1 (correct me, if it’s wrong)
I am a linux-noob (at least i’m able to use the command line…basically)

And, well, yes, I read all those Topics about what I should do or not, what’s the solution and what makes it gona run… Nothing helped.
I googled around for about 1 month now and im fed up with it. I can’t even see the word google any more (shall i use Windows live search rotfl! )
I just still do not have any idea of how to get the device running… I am confused. Some told me: Use ndiswrapper, some told me not to do…
And i had one month no pc-to-internet connection (iphone greets)

I am fed up with working on that thingie any longer, and i even thought about to use windows again (call me as you want :stuck_out_tongue: )

Well if somebody likes to help me, he would make me a jesus-happy guy!

…go 2 have a sleep. I am tired…

Greetings, Sebastian

I don’t know where you have been looking for help, but you OBVIOUSLY have not
read the stickies at the start of this forum, which tell you how to gather the
information that we need to advise you.

Just telling us that you have a WLAN-SB stick is hardly sufficient. I have 3 of
them and they all work!

I can tell you, i read them through and through…
I just did how i was told, and linux is doing…anything.
And later on, it just looks like I’ve never tried to use this wlan device.
But if it’s all you can tell me, i ought to thank you. Thanks…

Going to buy a Netgear WLAN-Bridge and access through the RealTek Lan Device…
Hope this is going to work…

Lets get started. The stickies (previously mentioned) dicuss providing as much info as possible. (Then you have got a better chance of getting help). Open a console (terminal window) and type this command

lsusb

This command can also yield good info:

/usr/sbin/hwinfo --wlan

Post back with the results.

You may find you just need to configure it via yast.

I just bought a wlan bridge which i am now connected to via my lan device.
Works fine.
