You see, I’ve already got Ubuntu on my system as well as Windows, in a dual boot configuration. I wanna install openSUSE to replace Ubuntu. Since I’ve already got ext3 and swap partitions on my hard drive this is convenient. However, notice this screenshot.

Everything is fine, actually. However, is says “Set mount point of /dev/sda2 to /windows/C” (sda2 is my C: drive on Windows) My question is, why does it need to bother with my Windows partitions, and will it affect my Windows install?
Thank you! :embarrassed:
It sets a mount point to windows so you will have access to the files from SUSE and also you can be sure it will be in the grub menu too. Though to have read write you may have to do some config later when the install has finished.
Only the part in RED is formatted - so you are fine. Go ahead.
You know, I’m just wondering what might (have) be(en) on sda5 before formatting.
Sure, that this one does not contain another linux distribution (let’s say the aforementioned *buntu)?
Looks just a little suspicious that the “lowest numbered” logical partition (which is always the good ol’ nr.5) should be empty, when 6 and 7 contain /home and swap.
Yeah, just saw that (a little too late), forget my comment.
P.S.
Using the same /home is OK, using the same user names is also OK, but one might consider moving/deleting configuration folders for GNOME/KDE from the *buntu installation, configs are not always 1:1 compatible between distributions, so this might be looking for trouble in that case.
