[JDB barrier synch failed on XXXX] during bootup

Good morning Linux experts,
I have a question about an error message that my linux machine shows me, during the (textmode) bootup phase.

The message is this one: “JDB - Barrier based synch failed on XXX
Where XXX is:

  • hda2 (a harddisk) and
  • dm5,dm6,dm7,dm4 (dont know yet what this means… logical volume_partitions ??)

What have i done so far:
When i boot up in [SAFE MODE] everything seems to work fine. I am able to boot to the commandline prompt: (console) and login as root on my machine

What’s next

  • I am figuring out what this JDB messages means,
  • What its relationship is to my disk configuration
  • And how i can fix this problem?

Question
Keep you help me out with this JDB error message please?

Regards, Ronald

Barrier sync is not en error, it’s a warning stating the device does not support them.

Thanks Chrysantine!

Barrier sync is not en error, it’s a warning stating the device does not support them.

I was thinking that there could be something wrong with my harddisks… physicially.

Can you tell me Chrysantine?

  • Which part of Linux (daemon, script, lvm??) causes this message to appear on screen
  • How can turn this message of (other than all output >> null)
