Anyone else having this issue?Iced tea appears to be ****-has never worked.Even after the clusterflock of codecs/multimedia, etc.I’ve never had the fake java work on my platform. Why can’t we just unistall tea and use linux based java?If I do that will it destroy my install?I DO know the us.gov site has not been compatible since java 7.xx:beat-up:
Here’s the error output from iced tea:

Note :- I am using a 64 bit OS and hence my instructions would be 64 bit
specific. Provide root password as and when needed
==>Remove openjdk and devel
sudo zypper rm -u openjdk
==>Download jdk from oracle site and install it
The rpm i downloaded was jdk-7u45-linux-x64.rpm. It installed it using
command
sudo zypper in jdk-7u45-linux-x64.rpm
==>If you need to run applets on Firefox ,SeaMonkey or Opera then create
a syslink in folder /usr/lib64/browser-plugins using command
From what I’ve seen, when Iced Tea is installed, it’s a decision by the App (Web Browser, typically) and not a downstream decision (eg openSUSE).
And, AFAIK there is nothing that prevents you from
Using a different web browser that uses a different Java
Removing Iced Tea (typically implemented as a plugin or “extension”) and installing an alternative.
The log entries you posted are insufficient for anyone to constructively improve Iced Tea (and this is the wrong place to post). If you’re willing to help provide a solution, you need to open a bug (you can do so at http://bugzilla.novell.com) and within it you need to provide besides the usual questions
What browser you’re using
What website you’re visiting and if you can determine exactly what java applet is being served from that page
Actually, for the type of error you posted I wonder if it’s really Iced Tea’s fault… It looks to be such a basic issue (unable to load the Main class) I’d consider that the problem is actually caused by sucky programming.
