My laptop uses a Intel wifi controller using the iwlwifi driver. One month ago, everythinng worked fine, the speed was ok and now network speed is near by zero. And it was not the first time that this was the case. I’ve reinstalled then tumbleweed and it turned back to normal. And now I have the same problem again, normally many things are working better with linux that with other OS, but this is a show stopper that seems never to be completely fixed in linux as wifi with Intel controllers are working fine with all other operating systems. So I don’t know what kind of idiots on the linux side are working on these drivers. Sorry for my frustation but this frustration more than than justified. All hints on the net to edit/create config files are useless and have no effect
Check if this might be the problem that you see:
Obviously there was a problem with the Fritzbox. Switching off power management seems to solve the problem, but I will do further testing to make sure that this solution is reliable. I’ve set the parameter wifi.powersave to 2 instead of 3 in the file /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi-powersave-on.conf. BTW the Fritzbox is doing my internal home network, but the connection to the internet is done with Sagemcom cable (coaxial) modem. With this modem the wifi controller works perfectly (full speed) without switching off the power management on my linux laptop. Is there something wrong configured on my Fritzbox?
