It seems my GRUB is messed up

Hi there, newbie here
My grub has lost the ability to boot openSUSE but graciously still allows me to use my windows XP.

if i go into grub the only information i know how to get is that in the ‘windows’ bit it says:

rootnoverify (hd0,5)
chainloader (hd0,0)+1

that’s strange cod hd0,5 is where root for openSUSE is.

I have live cd. Am currently trying to burn super-grub-disk to see if that’l fix it.

Anyone got some hints?
Thanks

It’s advisable to not start throwing fixes at the problem before understanding what it is. Just reply back to the other thread and we’ll get it fixed.

It is easy to fix, first you need a boot cd of opensuse and call ‘yast2 bootloader’ and it will remake /boot/grub/menu.lst, of course you need to tell it you want it look at the advance options, if you lose the grub read the post To install a 3rd OS? - openSUSE Forums because i have post there how to install a grub already if you have problems in the future with the grub.
