Issues with #Steam and openSUSE 13.10 x86_64 Gnome

Hi, I have issues with Steam and openSUSE 13.10 x86_64 Gnome.

When I start Steam, the games have no sound, when closing the application also closes my session (X’s), then I login, reopen Steam and sound is activated.

Moreover, some parts of the game are on a black background. :frowning:

My graphics card is an Intel Ivybridge (Core i7-3610QM)

It’s a fresh install (RC3)

As far as I can tell, steam has some problems on 13.1. I also do not have sound unless I start steam with

STEAM_RUNTIME=0 steam

And now since a couple of days ago if I use that to start steam none of my games launch because of this error

error while loading shared libraries: libGLU.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I am still hunting down solutions because all the ones I found through google do not work.
I am currently using the proprietary driver from AMD.

On my system, this is provided by the package “libGLU1”. Do you have that installed?
And maybe the 32bit version “libGLU1-32bit” as well if needed?

But I don’t use fglrx, only radeon.

Sheez, that sure was easy. Everything works now, Thanks a bunch. :slight_smile:
To get the sound to work I had to install alsa-32bit and for the trailers in the client I had to put the 32bit flash in ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/.
