The last image of OpenSuse Tumbleweed is openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20200813-Media.iso, includes kernel 5.8.0,
but the lastes Nvidia drivers is for kernel 5.7.9 - https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/x86_64/ .
I want ot install the lastest version of OpenSuse Tumbleweed with the lastest kernel and the lastest nvidia drivers.
How can I do it?
Maybe the nvidia driver should work and rebuild.
Otherwise you need to install it by the run-file from Nvidia.
But that depends on your Nvidia-Graphics-Card.
I use the 5.7.11 kernel waiting for the update to come from the Nvidia Repository, I don’t lift a finger even though I could use the hard way using the Driver.run from the Nvidia site
I’m writing this reply via fully updated TW using:
Linux dmz 5.8.0-1-default #1 SMP Tue Aug 4 07:30:59 UTC 2020 (9bc0044) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
nvidia-gfxG05-kmp-default (version: 450.57_k5.7.9_1-38.2)
It was mentioned to me that the reason it works is because of KABI (kernel ABI compatibility)…
