Is today's factory iso the same as gm?

Is today’s factory iso the same as 13.2 GM?

I don’t think so, but until I install 13.2 final I won’t be able to compare.

Factory now has a 3.17 kernel. It is my impression that 13.2 is staying with a 3.16 kernel.

you are right the latest factory iso has a different kernel version and about 300 updated packages

Let’s hope not; Kernel:/openSUSE-13.2/standard/x86_64 has kernel-desktop-3.16.6-3.1… I recall reading somewhere that 3.16.7 will be the last tied to 3.18’s release and now, that is at RC2.

I realize that Vbox, Vmware, Nvidia, etc., and all the other kernel module packages want a nice, stable kernel. I do to! So, I’m glad to see 3.17 in factory today – which BTW is in our kernel stable repo.

If 13.2 sticks with 3.16. I surely will be looking at “13.2 Tumbleweed” as it will probably roll out with a 13.2 kernel-3.17!

You perhaps have not heard of the Tumbleweed changes.

What you are now using as factory will be renamed to “Tumbleweed” on Nov 4. So you already have it. The old way of doing Tumbleweed is ending.

Yes, had my head up and locked! We, I, shall become fluid rebuilding src, rpms; installing Nvidia drivers the hard way; etc.!

But, that triggered my memory – swerdna had an excellent post on backing up Tumbleweed for kernel changes that will now apply to Factory; here it is:
