i am a java guy, and qt toolkit has wonderful user interface. i try to write some little programs using qt-jambi , but i found qt-jambi’s build failed always in build.opensuse.org.

My answer should have made it clear why there cannot be a repo, how do
you want to build a software which is no longer compatible with the qt
versions used nowadays?
This project (qt jambi) looks rather dead to me, a two years old beta
version and since then nothing new?
That is consistent with what wikipedia says that Nokia stopped
development in 2010.

swt is good, maybe javafx is also better than qtjambi.
maybe i should give javafx a shot.

and they are maintained and you can expect them to be maintained for the

forgot to mention that since I have not used it myself until now, it is
for sure an interesting alternative
Maybe at some point you consider to give a feedback about your

Even with a failed build are you saying you can not download/install it ?
I was under the impression that it did not overwrite or delete the previous set of good built files. Using the very latest is probably not necessary for your project.
Hopefully the builds will be fixed soon (there are patches on the way to main tree to resolve recent build failures on some platforms).
12.1 looks like it is working? openSUSE_Factory is usually broken due to openSUSE project changes.
Qt Jambi is compatible with Qt version 4.5.x and 4.6.x and 4.7.x and 4.8.x. It is not currently compatible with 5.x (since Qt5 has not been released yet).
So the link I quoted in my last reply to this thread is the OBS package this is Qt Jambi built on top of whatever the disto uses. There is also always the option to download from git repo https://gitorious.org/+qt-jambi-community and built it yourself.
Nokia may have stopped development but this does not mean the community did not continue. I am not sure why anyone would presume it does not work, if anything a number of bugs and issues left in from the Trolltech/Nokia days have been resolved.
One aspect in 2013 will be addressing the project image so hopefully the resources you reference will be refreshed and corrected with useful information.
I am hopeful Qt Jambi will continue to be maintained for years to come we’ve certainly been clearing the backlog.
JavaFX remains to be seen if it is a solution for Java UI but it looks like an XML version of QML (which has existed in Qt for some years now). QML is a DSL based on JavaScript that fully integrates with all other aspects of Qt.
It is also interesting you are recommending to someone else to look and use JavaFX and report back… I think much of the world is thinking the same and this is why Qt Jambi is still very useful.
