Is there still a working dicitonary app?

I know it’s fairly easy to use a browser for looking up words, but I would still like a key-combo → search term dictionary app like in the old days. Is there one that works?

zypper se dictionary givies only some packages for GNOME and Mate. But I suspect these to connect to internet resources. The closest I can think of is ollama with some supersmall language model.

Not sure if they can be set up with a key combo to your satisfaction, but my go-to are stardict, qstardict and Wordbook. The first is available in openSUSE, the second not but you could build from source (same dictionaries but Qt based, will integrate better on KDE), the third is on Flathub. All use offline dictionaries.

It’s not a question of connecting to the internet. It’s a question of opening yet another tab in the browser, or finding the page I want to replace. I just want Alt+F2 app-name and put in the word. One that’s tolerant with really pathological spelling would be nice. IIRC the one I used to use was called kdict. But the last I looked I didn’t see it. I had tried to get dictionary working a while back, and failed. Now it’s working. I guess I should have checked first.
