I’ve been using a patched version of OpenJDK 1.7 which was significantly improving font antialiasing (I even posted a howto about that some time ago).
The problem is that the original repo I was using (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/valmar73:/patched-packages/openSUSE_13.1/) is gone and I no longer get updates. Is there any replacement for that? There is a new infinality repo from the same source but it’s for openSuse Tumbleweed and only for OpenJDK 1.8 (I’m using 13.1 and I’d stick with OpenJDK 1.7). Any recommendations?
That is a Home repo. Try to contact valmar73.
These things are of course allways possible with very person bounded repos/software. When I was young in my office we expressed that danger by saying: “Tomorrow he will be hit by a streetcar”. A bit cruel, but anything can close down the source of such software in due time.
Yeah, I’m aware of that risk. But right now I’m looking for a substitute. I use Java software quite frequently and this patch really makes a difference. There are repositories for Ubuntu… and I could of course install newer versions manually but that’s not really a solution.
